Information Management Training Workshops
The Records and Archives Office has developed a series of training workshops on managing information for Curtin staff. This suite of modules build upon each other and provide a user-friendly approach to addressing record keeping as Curtin employees.
Workshops are provided FREE to all University staff and are HIGHLY recommended.

- Creating and Keeping Records -

This introductory module will look at the different types of records created, captured and maintained by the University and the ways to determine which of these need to be kept. It also looks at the management of low value/ephemeral records and ways in which they are to be destroyed.
- Sentencing -

This module is designed to build upon the Creating and Keeping Records module and will look at what the Disposal Authorities are, the different types and how they are used. It will look at the process of sentencing records using the disposal authorities and creating disposal lists to manage active, inactive and archival records

This module identifies processes involved in the authorised transfer and destruction of inactive records. It also provides guidance on carrying out the disposal process and completing the required documentation. Participants should have already attended the "Sentencing" training module. - Preparing for flow -

This module is an introduction to flow, Curtin’s Enterprise Content Management initiative that will provide Curtin staff with an easier and better way of finding, using, sharing and keeping documents. It covers preparation actions that staff can apply within their areas to assist with a smoother rollout of flow hub, flow docs and flow web.
University Information Management strongly recommends that each area of the organisation prepares for the implementation of flow. This will and make it easier for people to adjust to the new ways of finding, using, sharing and keeping documents.

The quantity and ease with which email or email messages can be sent, received, duplicated, changed and deleted poses a number of challenges for us in our day to day work. This module is designed to provide you with easier and better ways to help you to find, use, share and keep your email.
